Solar energy optimization

About Shadystonewalk

Shadystonewalk helps solar owners and operators maximize energy production through targeted optimization. We evaluate site-specific shading, panel tilt and orientation, inverter configuration, and balance-of-system losses. Our work centers on measurable improvement: we use string- and module-level analytics to find opportunities, then apply hardware and software solutions such as MPPT tuning, module-level power electronics, and strategic reconfiguration. Every recommendation is backed by modeled yield improvements and an economic analysis that focuses on lifecycle value. Our projects range from small residential rooftops to commercial and utility-scale fields. We place a strong emphasis on reliability and safety in the field while keeping interventions cost-effective. The result is a practical path to higher daily harvest, lower operational losses, and clearer investment outcomes for owners and asset managers.

Our approach to optimization

Shadystonewalk applies a structured, data-driven process to find and implement improvements that increase energy harvest while keeping costs appropriate to the expected benefit. We begin with a remote screening using satellite, LiDAR, and solar resource analysis to find promising candidates. Next we perform an on-site shade and string-level performance assessment using IV curve tracing, thermal imaging, and production monitoring to identify mismatch, degradation, and shading impacts. When shading or mismatch is significant, we evaluate module-level power electronics and microinverter options to recover lost production. For inverter-level controls, we tune MPPT windows, clipping thresholds, and derate profiles to the site's thermal and irradiance behavior. Preventive maintenance is scheduled based on site specific soiling rates; cleaning, connection checks, and firmware updates are conducted to preserve the modeled gains. Every engagement ends with a clear measurement plan so stakeholders can see the realized uplift in yield and ROI relative to baseline performance.
